About the Wykeham Squash Club

The Wykeham Squash Club was formed in 2000 when Winchester College's existing two courts were expanded into a four-court facility with the financial help of Honorary Wykehamist Mr Al Gordon. We now have two traditional courts and two glass-backed courts with a viewing gallery and changing facilities.

The Club caters for squash players who wish to have a social game as well as those who would like to play against other clubs in the Hampshire Leagues.

Availability

The Winchester College pupils use the courts in the afternoons, late evenings and some of the weekends, and at all other times they are available to be used by the members of the Wykeham Club.

Hampshire Leagues

In 2006 the Club has had its best season ever, with the first team promoted into the Premier Division and the second team into Division 2. We also have a third team which will play in Division 5.

Junior Section

The Junior Section meets on a Saturday morning and comprises 4 - 18 year-olds who wish to enjoy and participate in Mini Squash or the England Squash National Coaching Scheme. The Club has two junior teams in the Hampshire League in Divisions 2 and 4, which gives the Juniors a chance to compete against other players in Hampshire.

Club Night and Internal Leagues

As well as participating in the Hampshire Leagues, the Club has its own Internal Leagues and a Club Night from 19.30 - 21.00 on Monday evenings. The Club Night is a time for members to play other players of differing standards and is also a time for potential members to try out the superb facilities.

Other Activities

Although the Club is predominately a squash club, the members are also keen to participate in numerous other activities, and this year several members are competing in Triathlons. Our Club Champion Andrew Whittingham won the Club Tournament having just completed the London Marathon in 3 hours 30 minutes!!!
